Connected to every problem that faces the world, there are infinite possibilities for positive, sustainable change. Rather than a) sticking to business as usual or b) kvetching non-stop, why don't we grasp some of these possibilities? Do something, change something, make the world a better place.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
America, I don’t ENJOY being ashamed of you, but sometimes you make it so necessary.
On the top, 8 ears of (undoubtedly genetically modified, pesticide laden) corn for 2 dollars.
On the bottom, 5 ears of the same corn, shucked, placed on styrofoam and wrapped in plastic, for two dollars.
Believe me when I say that the plastic-wrapped shit was FLYING off the shelves. People were willing to get 3 fewer ears of corn for the same price to save themselves the 20 seconds an ear to shuck it themselves. Nevermind the resources needed to produce the plastic and styrofoam.
So, given the choice between 2 bad agricultural and environmental choices, the Americans I witnessed made the WORSE one, on account of sheer fucking laziness.
Sorry for the preachiness.
Stop apologizing and preach, my dear man.
Canada too! Especially you suburbanites who take your SUV grocery shopping! Go shuck yourselves!
Typical fat lazy american bullshit. I prefer to actually pick my own corn in vermont and shuck it! haha
preach on. I’m scared...anyways. thanks michael pollen.
Is that packaged corn hand-shucked?
truth. (and fixed

This is a perfect example...what is wrong with...USA. Not to...
Wowwwwwww. That’s so annoying.
lol. in Iowa, we buy the corn from the back of a pickup truck, not shucked, and super delicious for around 10-12 for $2....
Stop apologizing...preach, my dear man.
