so glad someone wrote this piece… i feel like every time i turn on the radio lately it’s a different weather calamity. or of course another oil spill.

I don’t understand how ANYONE can look at recent weather extremes, between the disasters all year, the records highs in temperature and precipitation, the millions of people displaced and property destroyed, and say that humans are having no effect on the climate. Something big needs to be done, both to mitigate the effects of what we’re continuing to do to our planet, and to protect ourselves against the coming storm. Climate change is here to stay - years like this are only going to continue as the carbon dioxide built up in the atmosphere forces global average temperatures inexorably higher.
